I would like to implement IPX/SPX network protocol on Windows 7. I've installed WDK and grabbed all the needed IPX/SPX RFC but I don't know what to do after with the WDK?What are your suggestions?

Is there an IPX transport protocol for windows 7? Im trying to do multiplayer on warcraft 2 battle.net edition but i need an IPX protocol to make it work. Im running windows 7 and the usual way of installing protocols doesnt work because microsoft dropped the protocol when vista came out. Is there any way of making it work on 7?

1. Microsoft's official answer is to ask Novell as it is a Novell protocol. Novell's official answer is that it is a Microsoft operating system, ask Microsoft. (Recent versions of Novell Client do not support IPX) For gaming ipx wrapper appears to be the best bet, but is not compatible with ipx at the wire level. There are advantages as this allows you to play with people on other networks without doing ipx routing.
2. Mar 08, 2010  Go to 'manage network connection' (in control panel- network). Right click your LAN adapter connection, click 'install', 'protocol', 'Add', Do not select the IPX that is already in the list, be sure to select 'have disk'. Navigate to 'c:temp' and select file 'netnwlnk.inf', now select 'WLink IPX/SPX/NetBIOS'.
3. Since Vista windows removed IPX/SPX protocol. Of course i can install Novel (work very bad on windows 7). But i prefer devel my own driver to update my skills. – 0xBAADF00D Apr 16 '12 at 11:23.

WinDDK has a sample protocol driver at srcnetworkndisndisprot . You can use it as a starting point.

I found this IPXWrapper which is a wrapper library which emulates IPX support while tunneling the packets over UDP
